Is the glass half empty or half full? This is the age old question that determines whether a person is a optimist or a pessimist.

People have their own opinions as to which one is better, but I want to prove to you why the optimistic explanatory style is better.

An explanatory style is how you perceive the events and circumstances in your daily life.

Optimist look for the best in everything and they generally think on a positive note.

They generally expect the best as opposed to the pessimists who always expect the worst.

This may not seem like that huge of the deal, when you understand how our perceptions influence your subconscious mind, you may agree that it is more important than you think.

Our subconscious minds create our life through our beliefs, which are also our dominant thoughts. What this means is that what we expect to get is what we do get.

Whether it be the best or the worst case scenario, it does not matter. We simple attract what we give our attention to.

People who constantly expect the best and therefore attract only good things to happen in their lives are seen as lucky by other people because these individuals are constantly seeming to be a very fortunate.

But this is not just good fortune or chance, but rather they are creating these positive circumstances because they have an optimistic outlook on life.

Pessimistic people often have a lot to complain about and are always whining about having all the bad luck. Is this really bad luck, or are they creating these negative circumstances by expecting the worst?

I think you'll agree that when you expect the worst you create a self fulfilled prophecy and get what you expect. Knowing this, why not expect the best?

Expecting the best will only attract positive experiences into your life.
