Without one there cannot be the other, and you need them both to succeed In order to achieve a higher level of success in any area of your life, you need two things. The first is the motivation to pursue your goals, and the second is the Self-discipline required to give enough sustained effort to actually reach them. But Self-discipline and motivation are not two separate things, but rather come from the same place. People who are very disciplined and put forth sustained effort consistently until they reach their goals are inevitably motivated by some greater purpose. There is a strong sense of motivation that allows them to be disciplined enough to do the necessary actions in order to reach their goals. Therefore if someone is struggling with their Self-discipline, and they are not doing the things that they need to be doing, they simply need to boost their personal motivation. So where does motivation come from? It stems from our desires. When you want something, and you want it badly enough, you’re willing to do anything to get it. This state of willingness is motivation. It is the willingness and readiness to make plans, take steps, and follow the often rocky road to success that actually leads you there. When you are motivated by desire, and you have a strong passion for the goals that you are striving to achieve, nothing will be able to stand in your way. The most common reason of failure is simply that people are too quick to quit when things do not seem to go their way. Yet, if you want it badly enough, you’ll be willing to do anything and overcome any obstacle to reach your goals. This is the state of mind that makes people unstoppable, and that gives people the power to do extraordinary things.
