You might see an enticing ad that offers top 10 listings within a couple of days or sometimes within a couple of hours. It is this realistic? The answer is no. It takes time to get high search engine listings, and if you try and take shortcuts, you can only hinder your long-term performance. But there are many search engine marketing firms that do offer good results, but you need to be aware that not all of them are equal. Some of the most important aspects of search engine optimization are adding quality content, utilizing profitable keywords, making sure that your web pages are properly optimized, and ensuring that you have an ever growing link popularity. The thing is that many of these things do not necessarily require a large investment, and if you pay for someone to do them for you, you will get poor results. Many people pay to have added content on their website, and others pay to increase their link popularity. But the content that they get is usually duplicate and therefore not very valuable. And often the links that are acquired are not of high quality and therefore have little effect on your overall results. In my opinion it is best to go the “do it yourself” route. This is what I did, and even though it took a lot of time and effort, I’m now reaping amazing benefits. Not to brag, but my traffic has been doubling steadily over the past 12 weeks, and is actually growing faster now than ever before. And the good news is that I did not spend a single dime on optimization. I simply set my own rules according to what I knew the search engines are looking for, and I followed those rules diligently. For many months I added quality content, located and integrated many high demand and low supply keywords into my site, and gradually increased my link popularity through free directories and through article marketing. While at first I was spending a lot of time and not getting any results, there came a point when everything started to flourish. Now it is growing on its own by the day, and it would not have happened had I not been willing to invest my time in building a powerful website. You may want to use a firm to analyze your web pages and build your link popularity, but beware that sometimes the do-it-yourself method is the best. And remember that the most important part of search engine marketing is adding new, original content throughout your pages.
