Motivation for Success

Do you need motivation for success? Here is an absolutely essential component to high achievement

What is motivation for success?

Well, motivation is a desire for change, growth, and improvement.

Success based motivation then is the desire to achieve higher levels of success in your chosen field, or even just the desire for a more prosperous, fulfilling, and happy life.

But the desire is not enough to get results.

No matter how much personal motivation you have, if you are not disciplined to take the necessary actions, you will have little or no chance at achieving the levels of success that you want.

So how can you develop your self-discipline so that you can set higher goals than ever before and actually reach them?

In a great self help success book called The Psychology of Success, author Denis Waitley provides ten powerful strategies for improving your personal discipline, as well as boosting your motivation for success.

I want to share these same tips with you so that you can use them in your own life.

#1-Discipline your body to improve your cardiovascular system by jogging or walking at least three times per week. Optimum distance would be 12-18 miles per week. And eat nutritional, balanced meals instead of junk food.

#2-Discipline your body to relax and relieve stress by engaging in some form of “ball playing” as a routine. This means handball, racquetball, tennis, golf, punching bag, or something involving physical impact. This helps relieve built up internal stress.

#3- Be relentless and persistent in your rehearsing of your goal achievements. Both losing and winning are learned habits. It takes days and weeks of constant practice to overcome old entrenched attitudes and lifestyles.

#4- the best times to simulate goals are free, relaxed times-upon waking in the morning each day. In the bath or shower. An excellent time is during automobile or other vehicle commuting trips in which our minds are very close to being “in neutral.” During lunch, if we are alone. On a morning, afternoon or evening stroll. And, the very best time, at night in an easy chair or bed during the “twilight minutes” just prior to sleep.

#5- after every important performance in your life, whether it’s closing a sale, speaking in front of a group, communicating with employees, playing a sport, or dealing with loved ones-you should control your self-talk to elevate your best self image of a winning performance.

#6- As a daily exercise, you should rehearse every important goal achievement simulation over and over in your imagination like a television football instant replay, as if you have already mastered the act.

#7- when you simulate and visualize your goals, visualize the exact achievement of the specifics as if they have already been accomplished.

#8- make a list of five necessary but unpleasant tasks you have been putting off. Put the completion date after each task. Start and finish each task. Immediate action on unpleasant project reduces stress and tension.

#9- purchase and listen to audio cassette tapes on the art of visualization and simulation. Learn the steps for conditioning your own mind to relax and become most receptive to your own self talk. Record your goals in your own voice on an audio cassette. Listen to inspirational music, and play your cassette at the same time softly in the back ground.

#10- make an appointment to visit one of the following during the next 30 days-a military aviation flight simulator, an airline pilot training simulator, or a computer simulation game or training facility at the university. Get a current, firsthand experience with current, state of the art simulation.

Success requires goals, motivation for success, and of course…ACTION!
