If you are not generating the kind of traffic that you need, your online business will not be able to grow and flourish. Traffic is the foundation of any website driven business, so if you want to grow your business and increase your profits, you need to increase search engine traffic. Generating traffic from the search engines is not a difficult thing to do, you just need to know what to do and when to do it. I want to share a 5 step plan that I used to increase my SE traffic 10X in a matter of months. #1-Cultivate a List of Keywords Before moving on to the next step, you need to develop a long list of relevant keywords that will target your preferred audience. But you need to judge your keywords on more than just their relevancy; you also need to make sure you find low competition keywords, ones that are not overused by millions of other webmasters. You can find Low Competition keywords for free at Wordtracker. #2-Build Keyword Focused Content Pages Keyword focused content pages are individual webpage’s on your site, each of which is based around a specific low competition keyword from the list you cultivated above. Aim for at least 150-200 words of content on each page, and use the keyword about once for every 100 words, plus use it in a headline and the Meta title and description. #3-Increase Your Popularity It is well known that one of the ways that the search engines rank and list websites is the amount and quality of the links that the website has pointing to it. You can increase your link popularity to give all of your webpages a boost in positioning, and therefore giving you a major boost in your search engine traffic. A great way to get high quality inbound links for free is to write and submit short articles to any of the reputable article directories like Ezine Articles. This is a great way to get inbound links as well as some additional traffic. #4-Use a Blog Having a blog on your website is a great way to really increase your website traffic. It does this in a couple of ways. For one, the search engines love blogs, and so if you keyword your blog posts they can get picked up and listed by the search engines. But blogs are also terrific for generating return visitors. People signing up for your RSS feed will come back to your website over and over again. #5-Repeat As Needed To increase search engine traffic is an ongoing process, at least it should be. If you get content with your traffic then fine, you can sit back and let your business run on autopilot, at least the advertising portion of it. But if you are anything like me than you want more; more pages, more traffic, more return visitors, and more profits. All the steps above can be repeated over and over again. Adding content pages and building your link popularity can be ongoing, and your traffic will continue to increase.
