Improved Search Engine RankingImproved search engine ranking. After months of SEO work, I did this one simple thing and got greatly improved search engine traffic. I have been on a long journey in hopes of mastering the search engines. I realized at the beginning of my home business venture that traffic was an absolute must; in fact it is the foundation of a thriving online business. And I also realized that the search engines are a very powerful marketing medium that can drive massive amounts of targeted traffic to your website. I spent a long time, thousands upon thousands of hours developing my website. It was perfectly optimized for the search engines traffic. I had used the right keywords, build the pages according to strict SEO principles, created original content (duplicated content that is not your own is not valuable for search engine optimization), increased my link popularity, and I even had my website professionally submitted to the search engines. All of this work did bring me a steady flow of traffic, but it was not nearly the amount of traffic that I had hoped for. But then I learned something that made a huge difference. I learned that free online directories were losing power in the world of SEO link popularity. Link popularity is one of the most important and essential components of SEO. Getting listed in directories is a great way to do this, and I had developed high link popularity by utilizing hundreds of free online directories. I know that many other webmasters use this same strategy. But because the competition is getting stricter, free directories have lost some of their impact at the engines, therefore relying solely on free links is not always enough. So I decided to pay for a couple of high quality directory listings. I submitted to sphericom, the yahoo directory, joeant, and a few others. It cost me about $500 dollars in total, but it was the best investment into my website that I have ever made. Within a few days I noticed that I was getting slightly more traffic than before, but the big break came about 2 weeks after I submitted my website to the directories. Literally overnight my search engine traffic increased 800%!! That’s right, 8 times more traffic overnight, and it has continued to increase ever since. I have been able to quickly regain the money that I spent to boost my site, and of course my traffic and profits are still climbing ever higher. If you have been looking for a proven way to achieve improved search engine rankings, and you have not spent money on any paid directory listings, I highly recommend it. Just make sure that you choose quality SEO friendly directories. I like to look for directories with a Google PR of 5 or higher. This works very well, at least it did for me and some other webmasters who have shared very similar results and also got improved search engine rankings.
