SEO Strategy For the first six months that I was building my website I was gradually building a steady stream of free targeted traffic via the search engines. While I was making progress, it was not the kind of progress that I had really hoped for. I had covered all the basics like building original content, using profitable, low competition keywords, analyzing my web pages for search engine friendliness, and I even had hundreds of free directories listing my website. And like I said I was making progress, but I wanted more, much more. I knew that I used great keywords, I knew that my website was optimized, and I knew that I had plenty of content to please both the search engines and my human visitors. The only thing that I could think was that my link popularity, while it was a rather high, was not as strong as it needed to be. Although I had about 200 in pointing links, they were all from free directories. I did a little research and I realize that free directories, while they can increase your link popularity and give you a boost in optimization, are not as powerful as paid directories. The reason was simple. Search engines use back links to determine what sites are credible and what sites are not. Many of the free directories have low submission standards and therefore allow even crappy websites to be listed. This not only makes the directory a less credible one in the eyes of the search engines, but also makes that link not valuable to you. I decided that it was time to invest a little money and I decided that the best place to invest my money would be in securing some high quality paid directory listings. I searched for some high quality ones that were between PR 5 and PR 6, and I listed in several that cost under $50.00 each. Altogether I spent several hundred dollars, but I am glad I did. It was without a doubt the best investment of money that I have ever made into my business. Within days I noticed a drastic increase in my traffic, and within a couple of months my traffic was more than 10 times the amount that it had been only several weeks prior. If you’re looking for improved search engine rank, you may want to consider investing some money into some respectable paid directory listings. You do not need to spend a fortune, and you can get some quality links for under $20.00. But the other bonus of increasing your link popularity is that you will easily be able to have more pages and more keywords listed in the search engines. After you increase your link popularity, you may want to harvest a list of profitable low competition keywords and create many web pages based on these keywords. With your new popularity you will get these pages listed and ranked rather quickly. This will increase the number of available search terms that your website can be found under, and you will obviously increase your overall traffic. Remember that the two most important aspects of search engine optimization are quality, original content and quality inbound links. Adding these two components can be an ongoing process, and as you continue to add these things you will notice your traffic increase week after week, and month after month. There is no such thing as something for nothing, and if you want great results and improved search engine position and rank, you will need to invest your time and possibly a little money.
