Need more traffic? The simple and free strategies that I used to dramatically improve search engine rankings.

How is your traffic? Do you want to improve search engine rankings to get more of it?

I am not sure of any online business owner who would not absolutely love to have more website traffic. Traffic is really what it is all about, and I am sure that you will agree that the more….the better.

Over the past three months I have been expanding and promoting my website in hopes of generating some more traffic. It got a little stagnant and I was ready for some growth.

Did it work? Yes it did, and the rewards have only just begun. I have already achieved a 500% increase in traffic in only a couple of months, and my traffic is increasing almost by the day.

But here is the rub. I did not use any secret formulas and I did not spend a fortune of some magic system. I simply learned what the search engines are looking for, what pleases them and causes them to send traffic to a website, and then I gave it to them.

I will tell you that while I did not spend any money during this process, I did spend a whole lot of time to improve search engine rankings. But I actually don’t consider it spending time but rather investing time into something that will reward me for years to come.

I really only did two things, both of which anyone can begin to do as long as they are ready to spend some time doing them. I drastically increased my website content, as well as my link popularity.

Adding content was the most time consuming part, but it is also the most important, the very foundation of search engine optimization. The more traffic you have, the more keywords your website will get listed under, and the more traffic you will generate.

And content is even beneficial for developing return visitors, and it will also make the second part of the SEO equation, link popularity, much more convenient.

As I said, adding content takes time and if you are not willing to put that time in, you will not be able to reap the rewards. Sure, there are many people who try and find shortcuts to adding content. They use content from article directories, but that is not unique and original, and therefore the engines will see it as duplicate and it will not have any traffic generating power.

And some people even resort to stealing content from other websites, but the problems here are even greater. With new technology it is easy to see when other webmasters are using your content without permissions, and that is grounds for a lawsuit. It is always best to take the time to create your own content, or pay someone to write for you. But never steal.

But to ensure that all that new content gets found and listed by the search engines, you need to make yourself (at least your website) credible in the eyes of the engines. The most effective way to do this is by increasing your link popularity.

I used two methods for easy link building. First I got my website listed in several high quality free online directories. There are free directories that will link to your website, as long as it is quality and content rich. That is the other benefit of content.

And another very effective method I used to get inbound link was to do some simple article marketing. There are many article directories that you can submit articles to. You of course are allowed to put a link to your website in the article, and this can be a high quality link to gain.

By following this simple plan and investing a lot of time into my website, I am now enjoying improve search engine rankings, a snowball of traffic, and of course some terrific income to boot!
