Direct Mail Marketing Tip

A great direct mail marketing tip that may dramatically increase your results.

I had a recent realization about direct mail marketing recently. I already knew the direct mail marketing tip that I am going to share with you here, but I just saw it in action and now I really understand the difference that it makes.

As I checked my mail I had to rummage through all of the solicitations to find my real mail. You know what I am talking about, flyers, postcards, and pamphlets. I usually never even look twice at any of these, but one caught my eye.

It was different because at first it did not even come across as advertising, it was more like a miniature newspaper. As I opened it up I noticed that it was an advertisement for a local grocery store, but it was so much different than the rest.

While most of these types of adverts are nothing more than a tone of ads crammed on a piece of paper, this one actually had value. It had recipes, shopping tips, a great little shopping list maker, and a lot of little tidbits and fun stuff. This is the first type of mail advertisements that I have ever paid any attention to.

What this did for me was reinforced one of the most power marketing principles that I know of, and that is do not just promote, but provide. Providing your potential customer with something of value will give your marketing campaign a great boost in effectiveness.

This goes for mail marketing, as well as just about every other type of marketing you may do. If using mail marketing, do not simply send out a bunch of crappy advertisements that look like just that, advertisements. Offer some type of value or benefit to your potential customers.

This does two things primarily. For starters it will increase the number of people who actually view your ad. Ads gets tossed aside, but when there is value in it, the advertisement will grab attention and draw in your lead.

The other benefit is that by offering something of value, even a small benefit, you will increase your credibility in the eyes of the person reading your ad, and you chances of getting them to take action will greatly increase.
