Content Is a Must Many people make the mistake of focusing on all the little gimmicks and tactics that they think will help their search results, rather than actually doing what really matters. The more content (web page copy) that you have, the better you will do at the engines. The first and foremost priority of any webmaster is adding a lot of content that your website visitors will enjoy. The more content the better. It is the force that gives a site traffic generating power. Proper Key Wording It is necessary that you use keywords in your copy, but be aware of how much you use them. A common mistake that newcomers make is overusing keywords in an attempt to get listed quickly. The key is balance. You want to use each keyword often enough so that the engines will recognize it, but not too much to where they feel manipulated. 1 time per 100 words is a perfect amount. Also use it in a headline and the meta description. Link Popularity The more links that are pointing to your website from other sites, the better. Google and other search engines give higher priority to sites with good link popularity. Without any inbound links, you will have a nearly impossible time getting listed. You can get links easily by submitting your site to directories, or you can do article marketing to promote your site. The higher PR of the sites that list you, the better.
