They have many unique characteristics. They are bold, courageous, creative, hard working, motivated, and driven, and the list goes on and on. But there is one characteristic that is more important than any of the others, one trait that is absolutely indispensible. The most valuable thing that aspiring entrepreneurs can posses is the ability to persist. Persistence is more often than the separating characteristic between failures and those that find true success. All of the best training, experience, tools, and opportunities are of no value to a person who cannot persist all the way until the end. On the contrary, any person who is readily equipped with a persistent heart will never quit and therefore makes themselves unstoppable. Think about it….If you refuse to quit, can you ever fail? Of course not. If you take enough steps you will eventually reach your goals. One of the most influential motivational authors, Og Mandino, put it best by saying that success is like cutting down a huge tree with a small axe. Each swing of the axe may in itself not seem to get you very far, but if you continue to swing the tree will eventually fall. And this is how you should look at any opportunity that you intend to take. Do not think about every step that will need to be taken. This can be intimidating, overwhelming, and it may create fear and ultimately cause you not to act. It is better to take things a step at a time. All you ever need to worry about is the one thing that you are doing at this time. Do each act with care and efficiency, and as you continue to do this each day you will be drawing ever closer to seeing your dreams made manifest.
