Andrew W Mellon is one of two brothers who both managed to reach the pinnacles of wealth.

He and his brother Richard are in the top 14 richest Americans of all time. While his brother is in the 7th position with a fortune of $82 Billion, , Andrew sits in the 14th spot, having a fortune of over $50.5 Billion.

Born the son of a banker, Andrew always had a special talent with finances. He enjoyed the family business, excelled with it, and then moved on to many other noteworthy ventures.

He worked partly for Mellon Bank, but banking was only one of the areas where he excelled.

On top of his banking success Mellon was a highly successful investor, industrialist, art collector, as well as a prestigious philanthropist.

He also served as the secretary of the treasurer for 3 different presidents. His accomplishments are nothing short of impressive, even aside from the fortune he created.

His philanthropic work, which was done alongside his brother Richard, was also very noteworthy. Together they began the Mellon Foundation, an organization that did a lot of great work in the early 19th century.
