Unlike other affiliate marketing methods like article marketing and classified advertising, you cannot directly market your affiliate link at the directories. Directories only list original websites that have original content. A blog can also be used at most directories. If you want to use this marketing method, you will first want to create your own website or your own blog. This does not need to be a huge project, just a simple blog or website that offers information that your niche would be interested. After you have built about 20 or 30 pages of content you can begin to submit your website to the online directories. There are literally thousands of free directories that will always be willing to list informational websites. As people search for information they will find your website, and as they begin to read your information, they will run across your affiliate links which you should place throughout you site in a subtle manner. Most of the time when people attempt to build their own websites to promote their affiliate products, they offer little or no the valuable information and simply plaster their affiliate links and banners all over their website pages. This is most always a waste of time. People do not want to land on a page plastered with ads, they rather want to find websites that offer them some valuable information about whatever topic they were searching for. There is another huge benefit to using this type of marketing and that is that your website, after being listed in some high quality directories, will most likely get picked up and listed by the search engines. This in reality should be your foremost priority and your ultimate goal. Once your website is listed in the search engines you will be able to generate traffic each and every day. This in combination with the traffic they generate directly from the directories will provide you with plenty of traffic to grow, build, and expand your online business and overall affiliate marketing commission. Take the time to build a web site full of valuable information and you will have no problem attracting visitors.
