The first step in starting a business is defining your goals. Why do you want to start a business? Think of your perfect customer: their likes, their jobs, their income, and their level of education. Does the perfect customer remind you of, you? Chances are, you will market products and services that interest you, so your customers will have goals that are similar to yours.

You need to set a budget. This will help you realistically manage your money. When setting one, make it a point to be as realistic as possible. Think of your ideas, the amount of work, and the cost that it may incur. Prioritize, first things first. If you do not have a large budget, but you have the skills and the time to work on a certain task, try to do it yourself instead of hiring somebody to do it for you. You will save money.

You need to include content creation and keyword research in your Internet marketing business plan. Your content needs to appeal to your market. It has to be straight to the point and at the same time, entertaining. You also need to be very particular about the keywords in your niche. Keyword research tools are part of your plan that you need to allot money towards. You may have the best content in the world, but if you do not do keyword research, it will never be seen.

You need to decide how much time you have. Can you dedicate eight hours a day to your business, or do you only have one hour a day? Time is a really important part of your Internet marketing business plan. If you have time, you save money. If you have money, you save time. You know from the beginning which one you have and which one you want to expand. It may sound simple, but many people do not consider the time-money balance and find themselves worked to death, or broke.

Basically, your Internet marketing business plan will cover everything Internet marketing requires. Your goals, budget, marketing strategy (content creation and keywords), and your time-money balance. Figure this out, write it down, and stick with it. Marketers fail because they switch strategies, never finish projects, lose track of their budgets and lose their balance.
