Before starting any new business venture it's important to create a business plan. A business plan makes sure you stay on track and achieve your goals. A solid eBay business plan includes setting proper goals and knowing what you want to achieve.

First, determine how much time you are willing to devote to your new eBay business. Write it down, if you have a few extra hours a week or you want to spend the entire weekend working on your business, write it down in a spreadsheet or document file.

Next, determine what you want to accomplish with your eBay business. Do you want to replace your current income, clear the clutter out of the basement or make it a permanent extra income source?

Now comes the most important part. If you just want to get rid of the stuff laying around your house, then you can skip this step, otherwise, it's the most important part of any business and that includes an eBay business. Research and make sure there's a market for what you want to sell. A market is simply a group of people with similar interests who are willing to spend money on the type of products you will be selling.

Now doing the proper research is actually very easy with eBay since, a simple search will actually show you what people have been buying and who's selling it to them and what else they are selling to them. Just go to eBay and do a search, then scroll down and on your left you'll see a "completed listing" option under search, click that and you'll see in green what's actually sold, and how many. Now tell me that's not priceless information to have.

Once you determine what it is you want to sell, then you will need to find a source for it. Usually a quick "PRODUCT NAME wholesale" on Google will send you in the right direction, just be sure you're getting items from a reputable, reliable company.
