If you are in the beginning stages of starting your online home business, you will need to be able to promote it and your website. Of course, some internet techniques will work better than others, so with a bit of research and practice you be able to figure out which ones will be the most effective for you.

The following is a list of Internet Marketing techniques that will improve your Website Promotion and increase your search engine ranking:

1. Keyword Optimization. One of the most useful and important Internet marketing techniques for search engine optimization, would be through keyword research. Using a tool such as word tracker can help you to create keyword-rich websites and articles. When the pages in your websites contain information related and connected to the keywords that people type into search engines, they will be more likely to find and turn to your website.

2. Directory submission. When your website is listed on website directories, your exposure will be greatly increased. There are many sources for low-cost and free listings available on the Internet. Online phone directories and specialized listings are a great choice, but exposure on any online and relevant directory will be helpful to your website promotion.

3. Write and submit articles. Another wonderful way to increase your website exposure on the internet is by contributing articles to newsletter and online magazine sites, such as EzineArticles.com. It is a great and free method of gaining recognition and exposure in your field and great way to promote your business and website.

4. Blogging. When you create a blog that has useful information relevant to your field of interest, you will increase the chances of people finding your content and linking to your website.

5. Offer Free tools and/or Free Reports. One of the most effective ways to create repeating and returning traffic to your website is by offering free tools or reports. For example, many real estate agents will advertise and offer free mortgage rate calculators. Travel Agents, also, will offer free destination search tools, or you may also choose to offer a free report detailing the top techniques your prospect will need to have in order to be successful. Whatever your free tool or report is, it will need to be something your prospects will want and that will be relevant and connected to what you are promoting on your website.

6. Have a catchy E-mail Signature. This is usually included at the bottom of every e-mail that you send. It provides a way for people to remember you each time you e-mail them and hopefully creates interest and curiosity for what you are promoting with your business and website.

7. Pay-Per-Click Ads. Ads that are included on search engine pages that only require advertisers to pay when people click on the ads are an effective form of website promotion. You should be sure to determine what your daily budget is, so that you will only spend as much as you can afford to invest on these ads.

8. Participate in Forums and Discussion Boards. This is a great way to get involved and share tips and suggestions on a variety of topics, while providing a way to promote your website by including your link at the end of every comment or tip that you contribute. Be sure to contribute helpful information and demonstrate that you care and are there to truly participate instead of just to promote yourself. Do not spam or make yourself a nuisance or you will be ignored or even banned from the group. Done correctly, however, forums can be a great way to promote your website.

9. Create a Newsletter. This is something that can be done once you have accumulated a list of visitors to your website. If your prospects choose to subscribe to your newsletter, it will remind them daily or weekly of your presence, business and website that you are promoting. Please keep in mind that newsletters should only be sent the prospects which have subscribed to and requested to receive it, but it is a great way to promote your website and continue your exposure.

10. Try Running a Contest. This can be a fun and unique way to attract visitors and potential clients to your website. If you have a business that can give out incentive prizes, such as free travel, it can add to your popularity and credibility and ensure that your website may be promoted and gain extra exposure!

And remember, be consistent and don't give up! Incorporating these Internet Marketing techniques into your website promotion will be sure to create great exposure so that your business will become truly successful and well-known!
