The subject line of an email is one of the most important aspects of e-mail marketing. The right subject line will encourage the recipient to open the email and read the contents. This is essential as most people tend to send commercial emails to the trash without reading them. The ideal subject line will be between 40 to 50 characters and not appear to be spam. People will be more willing to open sales emails if the subject lines offers them a useful product or service and is targeted towards them. Many marketers like to mention the name of the recipient in the subject line.

The body of the email will need to contain information about the website or product the campaign was designed to promote. Ideally the email will provide the reader enough information to encourage them to visit the website listed on the email. One of the most effective ways of doing this is to identify a problem and offer a solution.

Marketers should remember that large blocks of writing are not appealing to the eye. Many readers will see an email with a lot of text and decide not to read it. Those who do choose to read the email will often skim through the text. This could lead to readers missing vital pieces of information. In order to make sure that the recipient understands the content of the email, it should be written in short paragraphs. This will make the content stand out and easy for the reader to comprehend.

Lastly marketers should conclude their email with a call to action. Generally this will be a link to the website selling the service or product advertised in the email.

There are numerous free tools that marketers can use to set up their campaign. These tools can aid in list building and sending out the emails themselves. One of the most useful tools that online marketers can utilize is an auto responder. This system can send out emails to people on its list thus saving the marketer both time and energy.
