Almost every internet user today has an account on facebook. People keep on condemning it and giving warnings that its use should be lessened etc, but with every passing day more people are communicating and contacting through the facebook site. The fact is that opening an account on facebook or any other such site is an act of subconscious mind. The power of our subconscious mind compels us to be a part of such activities. The subconscious reasons behind doing so are perhaps as follows:

1. Boasting of Self Esteem An account made on Facebook boasts your self esteem. The minute your picture and attributes are displayed, you feel important. It is very important for us mortals to have an entire web page at our disposal. Our page contains all the necessary information about us. We know that the site is going to ensure our privacy and exhibit our image nonetheless. It is like becoming a celebrity with the disadvantages attached with a celebrity's life. That is how the power of Subconscious mind gives positive vibes and cements our decision of making an account on Facebook.

2. Self Projection There are times in our lives when we feel low. Dejection and sadness are an out come of self hatred. When we do something which our subconscious mind denies then one feels the onslaught of depression. In order to end that lowness, the power of subconscious mind stimulates us to find ways of self projection. Thus we satisfy the need of self projection through Facebook.

3. Subconscious Act of Keeping a Check The desire of knowing other's business is embedded in our subconscious minds. We have to put severe restrictions on ourselves in order to kill our natural curiosity. Everyone wants to know what is happening in the life of their class fellows, who studied further, who got married, who is still single and who is earning more bucks then himself. Facebook is the answer to all these questions in our subconscious mind.

4. Erasing Nostalgia

The subconscious mind feels the physical absence of our loved ones more than the conscious mind. Once we part ways with our dear ones, our conscious mind might get involved in the everyday routine of our new set up but the subconscious mind faces the nostalgia of our soul. Communication through internet is a sure way of erasing that nostalgia. So the Power of subconscious mind fuels our actions of making an account on Facebook or writing an email etc.

5. Virtual Mode of Existence

The subconscious mind appreciates the safety of a virtual mode of existence. The conscious physical self may feel brave and superior to any kind of fear, but the subconscious mind is always afraid of an invasion of privacy or undue exposure. The power of subconscious mind seeks such outlets of emotions like the Facebook which make us less susceptible because they offer a virtual mode of existence.
