A good technique that you can use to make your online writing more effective is to focus less on the dry, intellectual side of things and make sure that you are conveying powerful emotions with your writing.

Most people are usually not motivated to make a purchase simply based on their logic alone. Instead, most people will make a buying decision based on their emotions. This means that you need to focus more on how your reader is going to feel, not what they will think. Here are 3 shortcuts that you can use to convey more emotion with your writing.

Shortcut 1: Tell A Story

Telling a story is a very simple and powerful copywriting technique because the reader will immediately get pulled into your story. One good way to do this is to be honest and pick a personal story from your own life that you can use to relate to what it is that you are selling. Another great way you can use the story technique is to research a famous figure from the past that most people would be familiar with and tell a story from this person's life that you can relate back to your product or service.

Shortcut 2: Ask A Question

Do you think asking questions is a good idea? This is a technique that can lose its effectiveness if you overuse it, but asking questions can be a great way to catch a reader's attention and make them want to keep reading. The best questions that you can ask are positive ones that result in the answer "yes." You want to be careful to only frame questions that have a positive answer instead of a negative one.

Shortcut 3: List The Benefits In Detail

It is important to understand the difference between benefits and features when you are talking about your own product. Benefits are more important to the reader, because this is where they get to discover all the things that your product can do for them, and all the reasons why they should commit to a buying decision. By following these three online writing shortcuts you can get in touch with your readers on a more emotional level which can result in an increased amount of sales and referrals.
