8 Steps To Niche Affiliate Marketing Success On The Internet

Niche affiliate marketing began in the late 1990s when Amazon introduced an "associate program" that pays commission to people who refer visitors to buy books on their website. The program now includes thousands of products since Amazon expanded its business by selling other products. Amazon is still a great place to start but today, many online stores have developed their own affiliate programs for their respective niches.

Steps to Successful Niche Affiliate Marketing

Like traditional businesses, getting started with niche affiliate marketing requires proper planning. Here are the basic steps to start your online affiliate business.

1. Pick a niche. When researching for a niche, you have several options. You can choose a topic that you love or go with an expertise or a niche that you have professional experience. If you're willing to think outside the box, choose a niche that you believe has a good audience.

2. Choose a sub-niche. Once you've chosen a general niche, such as health, finance or travel, decide on a sub-niche to make sure of a more targeted audience. If you picked finance, you can branch out into a more specific topic, such as debt relief, personal finance or credit repair.

3. Start keyword research. When you've decided on the sub-niche, begin researching for keywords. These keywords are words or phrases people use to find information or products via search engines. You can use free tools like Google's AdWords Keyword tool, or go with paid programs like Market Samurai. Pick a main keyword that will be used as your blog's domain name, then save secondary keywords that you will use for your blog's content.

4. Start a blog. You have two options here - register with free blogs like Blogspot or WordPress, or buy your own domain name and get a hosting account. Whichever way you choose, use your main keyword as the blog's name, such as debtrelief.blogspot.com or debt-relief.com.

5. Add Content. Content comes in different forms, each with its own advantage. Blog posts, articles and other texts can easily be found because of the keywords and secondary keywords you'll insert into the text are the topics people are looking for. Images and videos are also considered content; they can also be searched via Google Images and Google Videos.

6. Find Affiliate programs. Once you performed keyword research, set up a blog, and added content, find an affiliate program that would be suitable for your niche. If your blog is about debt relief, look for finance organizers, debt calculators, debt relief books, and other products or services that you can promote. Generally, any website that offers an affiliate program only requires you to copy a link and post it on your blog or post. The link includes a unique ID that tracks any referral you send to the store or website and used for computing commissions.

7. Promote your blog. To maximize earning potential, it is important that you market your blog. You can use article marketing, video marketing, blog commenting, and many other internet marketing techniques to get your blog "out there".

8. Convert and Earn. Like any other businesses, a niche affiliate marketing campaign won't return revenue unless the people visiting your site buy something. You have to be aware of conversions and make sure your visitors are going to the merchant order page. Payment from affiliate programs can be sent out via PayPal, checks or bank transfers (usually for U.S. residents only).

Once you've finished all the steps, you can continue working on that blog by adding content and marketing the blog all over the internet. You can also start a new niche blog and repeat the steps. The niche possibilities and earning potential with niche affiliate marketing are endless.
