What do social bookmarking or portal sites have to do with Home Business? It's another way to reach a potential customer base. Just like YouTube, MySpace, FaceBook and Twitter it's a way to directly communicate with existing and potential customers. Take YouTube for example. It's become so popular that almost everyone has either heard of it or been on the site at least once. It's a fantastic way to provide information or entertainment to a totally new customer base. How you choose to communicate is really your call. Some home business owners use a light touch, maybe comedic, to gain a following and draw attention to their sites or products. Frankly I've gone on YouTube to find how-to videos on a range of different products, it's been very helpful.

I find that micro-blogging sites like Twitter are so popular because they are so current. You can follow a particular person and find out what they are up to in seconds. "Tweets" are updates that "followers" look to for information about you. Not everything is an item that you are interested in posting on your blog or your site for that matter so you "Tweet" about it on Twitter in 140 characters or less. As I have mentioned in other posts and articles the Internet moves at the speed of light so hang on.

What's all of the relevance to a home business site, you may ask? It's simply another method of promotion or promoting that's at your disposal. The Internet is like that, there's always something new to keep you on your toes. If you haven't signed up for a Twitter account you are losing out on a valuable resource in promoting your business or product. The best part of it all is that there is a huge volume of free Twitter widgets and add-ons to make the Twitter experience even more productive, after all you can't sit at your computer 24/7.
