Start an Internet business with the same mindset that you would have if you were going to start any other traditional business i.e. that it will require hard work and consistent effort over time to achieve success.

Go it alone.

Trying to earn a six figure income online, without any help, is definitely the most difficult route to take. The learning curve for any newcomer can be so steep that it is easy to fall into the trap of feeling overwhelmed - so much to learn, so much to do, the sense of being alone, what to do and in what order...

Fail to learn the process of marketing online.

Building a website these days is not difficult - gone are the days of needing technical skills and programming experience. Finding products to sell is certainly not a barrier - whether you choose to sell physical products or information products there are a host of places where you can sign up as an affiliate and sell other peoples products in exchange for a commission.

But if you do not learn how to market effectively and send visitors to your website or offer then you will have little or no opportunity to earn a six figure income online.

Don't plan their time effectively.

Whether you are starting an Internet business, on a part-time or a full-time basis, making sure you plan your time effectively is crucial to achieving the level of progress that you will need to see to keep you motivated and moving forward.

Whether it is spending time on learning new skills, developing your website or implementing marketing strategies, without a firm plan (i.e. having set times allocated to undertake each of these tasks) it is easy to find yourself focusing too much on one aspect of your business to the detriment of another - or worse still not focusing on anything. The Internet is the world's greatest place for distraction!
