I received an email recently from a person who was looking for ways to make money online. They specifically wanted to know if that list building thing still worked or not. I am here to tell you that it still does!

Making money with email marketing to a list that you have personally built still works. Here's why!

1. Brand yourself. If you do email marketing correctly you can brand yourself as an expert on the theme your business is in.

The best way to do this is to offer informational email messages that do not try and sell something. This lets people know you care about providing quality information to them.

2. Build relationships. People are going to get to know you through your email messages.

Some are even going to send an email back to you. These are the emails you want to reply to. Some of your best long term customers will be people who you interact with via email.

3. Control your mailing schedule. You can send out email messages over a preset period of time.

This is a good idea if you have a series of ideas you want to present about your product or program. You can drip messages over a period of time without over mailing to your list.

However, you can also send an email out very quickly if you come across something you would like to sell to your list. Also, if you need to make money quick an mail list is a great source of income on demand.

4. Long term asset. No one can take your list away from you.

As it continues to grow it will continue to make money for you. The larger your list the more income you should be making from it.

This is something that doesn't take a lot of your time to maintain. Once you have various this list building strategies in place online it almost becomes automatic.

You should continue to build your list on your website and blog. You should also be promoting landing pages in various ways including traffic exchanges, blogging, social networking, and so on.

If something were to happen to you your spouse could easily maintain your list and make money from it. If you grow tired of it you can even sell it to a potential buyer if you can document the income you are earning from it.

Even with social networking growing like it has, that list building things still works. As long as people are willing to receive email messages there is income to be made doing email marketing.
